Jonathan Porter at the WGN Radio studio with pizzas from Robert's, Peanut Park, and Pizano's

Our founder Jonathan Porter was back in the WGN Radio studio this month for an episode of Chicago's Very Own Eats, the WGN food podcast hosted by Kevin Powell and Michael Piff. He did not show up empty handed. The photo above is the spread he carried in, pies from Robert's, Peanut Park, and Pizano's, which is roughly what a Wednesday looks like around here.

It is a long, unhurried conversation, which is the good kind. Jonathan and the hosts get into how the business actually started back in 2009, how the tours are put together, and which Chicago spots he has been eating at lately. Michael has taken the tour himself with his dad and his brother, so the questions come from someone who has done the walk rather than someone reading a one sheet.

The part people keep asking us about: Jonathan walks through how his recent appearance on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares came together, which we wrote up separately because it deserves the room. He also talks about the annual tour he runs with WGN-TV's Pat Tomasulo and Food Network's Jeff Mauro for Pat's Laugh Your Face Off fundraiser, which is one of our favorite days of the year. And there is a tease at the end about the next Chicago's Very Own Eats Tournament coming in September.
